Besides being an author, Paula Chaffee Scardamalia is a book coach who loves helping other writers write their stories or life discoveries using her experience and knowledge as well as intuitive tools such as dreams and the tarot. She’s the author of "Enchanting Creativity, Tarot for the Fiction Writer," the award-winning "Weaving a Woman’s Life: Spiritual Lessons from the Loom," and her fantasy romance novel, "In the Land of the Vultures." Divine Muse-ings is her weekly newsletter on writing, creativity, dreams, and tarot. She lives with her husband in an 1840s Greek Revival farmhouse, constantly in need of TLC, in the foothills of the Catskills.

Ph.D. candidate, MJ, is the latest assignment for Nik, a Voice and immortal son of a Muse. A job he didn’t want, but he made a promise to her recently deceased grandmother. Just as he’d once helped her claim her stories and build a career, he’d help MJ reclaim her imagination. If only she wasn’t so heavily influenced by her mother, who constantly reminds MJ of the career sacrifices she’d made to bring her into the world. And who lied to MJ about her family.
Feeling guilty about the lapsed relationship with her grandmother, MJ accepts the mysterious conditions of her will, against her mother’s protests, and even though she has a dissertation to write. But the growing attraction between her and Nik, a hunky financial advisor and agent, is distracting. Not to mention, strange events have been happening ever since she drove onto the island. Still, she has to get work done, or face failure and her mother’s bitter wrath.
Voices have two rules: Don’t fall in love with your mortal, and don’t reveal what you are. Over the centuries, that’s been easy for Nik, so he hasn’t had to worry about the consequences.
Until MJ.
